It’s hard to put into words what I felt the night of October 5th. 27 years after moving to Nashville with no job, a 3 year old, and a credit card that I hoped would buy us a little time, I found myself inducted into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame.
I don’t think it’s possible to get your head around the idea of being in the Hall with heroes like Bob Dylan, Johnny Cash, Kris Kristofferson or Dolly Parton. Not even among heroes that I have had the privilege of also calling friends, like Harlan Howard or Rodney Crowell. But I am humbled and so honored to be there, and to feel the acceptance and support of a community that I wanted so much to be a part of on that day in August of 1987 when I pulled into town.
