No Depression is featuring a track from Disc Two of The Essential Gretchen Peters as a “Fresh Track” on their website. “The Cruel Mother”, a traditional folk ballad, was originally recorded in 2011 and features Barry Walsh on piano and David Henry on cello. More on The Essential Gretchen Peters:

The Essential is a double album combining career-defining tracks from a 20 year recording history with rare outtakes, demos and B-sides. It includes brand new recordings of two of Peters’ best loved songs: “On A Bus To St. Cloud”, and “When You Love Someone”.
